Supervision: All athletes must be represented at the meet by an adult sponsor who is a school district employee or community coach approved by the principal that will be present for the duration of the event.
Coaches are responsible for ensuring that athletes know the race course and for first aid.
Marshalls volunteering at the meets should be adults wearing an identifiable vest. It is important that they are able to contact the school rep. who is responsible for marshalls by cell phone or walkie talkie in case of emergency.
Rules & Regulations: Island Zone entries will be due 1 week prior to the Island Championships. Each athlete must compete in at least 1 league race in order to be eligible for Islands. Athletes must compete in their school uniform, and are not allowed to wear headphones while racing.
Awards: Ribbons will be given out after each race to the top 15 boys and girls and to the top teams. Team ribbons for top 3 teams in each category. Teams are comprised of top 4 scoring members in same age category.
Results: Coaches will email Tessa with their Team Roster in the provided excel document prior to race 1. All divisions and athletes go on the same list and will each be assigned a Race Bib that they will keep for the entire season. Coaches will be provided with safety pins, as well as some extra bibs. If you add an athlete, please let the Results person know so that your athlete is in the system. Please ensure athletes do not swap bibs, as this will ruin the results. We also recommend that coaches ask athletes to return the bibs after each race so that they don’t go missing.
Race Course Info: A map of the course will be supplied each race for the next one in the series. Contact Commissioners if you need a race map. Race distances are approximate. Some maps are available online – click on location.
BC School Registration: All athletes must be registered and deemed eligible by BC School Sports prior to their first race
